The President was today presented with the Certificate for successfully breaking the world record for the most number of simultaneous divers at the same location, after the verification of the event by Guinness.
The presentation of the Certificate to the President was made by the Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Dr. Mahmood Shauqee. The President was also presented with a DVD featuring the whole diving event.

The President said that breaking the world diving record was an honour for the Maldives. He noted that the attempt would no doubt attract a lot of publicity to the Maldives and thereby help add impetus to the popularly growing tourism sector in the country. Further, he thanked the Tourism Minister, Dr. Mahmood Shauqee, senior officials at the Toursim Ministry, the Maldives Tourism Promotion Board, the organising committee, co-sponsor of the event Dhiraagu, and all participants of the event. The President also called to put in more efforts towards the work to promote and advertise the Maldives? tourism product.

Expressing his happiness for the achievement of the award, Minister Dr. Shauqee thanked the President for his visit to the site during the event and for his role and assistance in organising the event in the Maldives.
